Hard Times

I know I haven't been around here much. I've felt for awhile that this blog has been dying a slow death.

But you know how these things go. Life happens and sometimes it happens, then happens some more, and happens in such a way that you just can't do the things that you once loved to do.

And sometimes you just move in and out of creative phases.

For me, it's been a case of all of the above. I will always be a writer. And I know the desire will return one of these days. Maybe I'm getting my creative fill with the photography portion of my life.

It happens. But the big news in our lives right now is that my husband, Charlie lost his job this week. It came as a huge shock since they seemed really jazzed about keeping him there. So any stress that I had before is now multiplied by 38. Now that the initial shock has worn off, I am doing ok. Ask me again when the severance starts to run out and he still hasn't found a job.

So I'm not going to do anything crazy like delete this blog. There are many good stories to find around here. I feel bad. I know there are those of you that have expressed how much you enjoy reading my nonsense. And some of you might have only just started to read this crazy stuff. If you scroll all the way down, there should be some categories that you could peruse. I know it's not the same...

If you want to connect on Facebook, shoot me an email (gremlinwrangler at gmail.com)

And I'm still updating my business site and putting photos up on Flickr. So I'm not gone from the internet. I'm just not writing right now. My brain is mush.

And who wants to read stuff from a lady with a mush brain.

Not me, that's who.

Maybe someday I'll be back.

Thanks for reading.

Sorry to hear about this, and praying that God directs you both so clearly into the next chapter of the story of your lives.

Hope you'll be refreshed and freed by letting go for now.

Blessings to all of you!

I hear ya Carrie. We are coming up on the six-month mark of my husband's unemployement. Lean in and remember that God is faithful.

We're praying for you all, Carrie. I'll hang on to the hope that one day you'll be blogging again. In the mean time, I'll just have to get my fill any time I see you (which hasn't been much lately, unfortunately...).

Lots of love,
Janelle

As long as you have a creative outlet! You are fun to read but your photos are wonderful to look at too! You seem to provide a bit of beauty to this world one way or another!

My husband and I were laid off 7 months ago. I feel your pain, it's such a hard time and it's easy to get angry but I'm positive God has a plan for all of us that is so much more fulfilling than the way we once lived our lives!

Take care and God bless!

good luck and god bless! I hope your hubby is employed again soon, and I'll keep checking back here just to make sure you haven't changed your mind and started writing again!

I hope your husband finds a job that is a million times better than his old one.

Have a great restful time away from blogging. Sometimes you just need to not force yourself to write. Just look at my blogs, I only have 12 posts for the year. In years past, I'd have 12 in a month.

To My Dear Kansas Tater,

Knowing you, I suspect that you started this blog as a writing outlet. The muse will return and your blog will still be here. In the meantime, it's a great place to toss out some funny shots of the family; Charlie the Clown, the Cuteness and his adorable self, Jackelope antics, Zoe's loveliness (and perhaps a video?), and Chaz, the boy who would be man. Of course, there's always the funky fresh self portraits, stupid pet tricks, and a possible photo session with Monitos, right? And who knows? Late one night, you might get a hankering to throw down some wonky story that wandered through your brain. Or just some interesting ponderment.

No worries - still lurve ya', praying for you and the fam, and hoping to see you soon!!

Carrie, I am sorry to hear about the job situation. It seems that everyone is somehow affected by this insane economy right now. It's hard to write about life when your mind is just preoccupied with taking care of the fam each day. I always love to read what you write and will be on the lookout for updates. I am going to connect with you on FB - it seems I am there more than blogging, too.

Hang in there - saying a little prayer for your family.

Carrie, I know I told you this already, but I'm sorry about the job situation. I'm one of those people who do love reading your fun nonsense, but we all go through phases and it's ok to put something aside while other things take precedence. You're on my reader, so you'll always pop up if and when you do decide to start writing again.

Well crap! (I have a way with words, no?) I totally understand needed to take a step back. Go, do your thang. We'll be here when you get back!

And I hope Charlie finds a job too. (Can I suggest he look in Alabama?!)

Carrie,

So sorry to hear about your husband's job! And I completely understand what you mean about sometimes needing to move in and out of creative spaces. I just got back from a break at my blog that I thought would be quick (it ended up being longer than six months). I needed to work on my other writing, and it was a really productive time.

Anyway, I'm sending you an email to connect via FB.

You take care!
Genny

Hey, I'm so sorry to hear about Chas becoming another statistic :( It's hard, I know, but you guys will pull through. Ask me how I know. Go on, ask. Because Carrie is one tenacious, dedicated woman. That's how I know.
I'll go stalk... I mean.... FIND you on Facebook now.

Oh Carrie! So sorry to hear about your husband's job.

Haven't been around the net too much lately. I've had a sick kid most of the year & I'm just wiped out during my "free" (is there *ever* any actual "free" time?) time. I'm just catching up here. :)

I'll still check every once in awhile. :)

You'll pull through. My hubby has had a total of 60 days (3 months if you do the math ;) )so far this year that he didn't have/couldn't work. We're self employed, and not a day goes by that I don't spend a thought or two worried that we may have to be the ones to do the laying off.

I'll say a prayer for you and your family.
